The “Politakis family olive mill” has been active in the production of extra virgin olive oil since 1950 in Crete, with a tradition on olive oil production dating back decades. The modern facilities are located in the Peza area of the Prefecture of Heraklion, 10 km from the archaeological site of Knossos.

TOUR AND TASTING
The tour takes place at the olive mill where visitors have the opportunity to see all the stages of the olives’ processing, from their reception to the mill, to the olive oil production.
The tour includes a visit to an exemplary ecological olive grove, located next to our olive mill, where we explain the cultivation methods and the environmentally friendly treatments that olive trees require to produce quality fruits, as well as a tasting session of extra virgin olive oil, pointing out the organoleptic characteristics of extra virgin olive oil and the ways to recognize it from other olive oil qualities.
Finally, a food pairing session concludes the visit.
