Evrogefsis is located near the Turkish border in the town of Didimotiho, which was the capital of the Byzantine Empire for a brief period during the Katakouzinos era.
It is worth visiting the Byzantine castle (Kale), which offers a remarkable view of the Evros River and of Turkey, Byzantine churches, Charles’s prison, the Walls, the grove, and the mosque at the end of a paved road on your way to Evrogefsis.
We founded the traditional pasta workshop Evrogefsis in the beautiful town of Didimotiho in 1998, with the aim of showcasing the traditional products of our region with goods from local producers, made without colorings or preservatives. These products include handmade traditional pastry, couscous, hilopites, milinaki stuffed with cheese (small cheese pie in the Thracian dialect), traditional Thracian red trahana with vegetables, (Florina peppers, carrots potatoes, onion, leeks and zucchini).
Our goal is to introduce visitors to local gastronomy and the beauties of our town through our traditional products.
