The history of Epsa S.A. goes back to 1924, when the Pelion region produced a surplus of lemons. Responding to the increased popularity of lemonade, the founders of Epsa S.A. set the goal to build a factory producing soft drinks on the outskirts of Volos. A German chemical engineer was invited to assist with the production of lemonade. It was then that a secret recipe was born and is preserved to this day, and much progress has been made over the nine decades that have passed since then.
Epsa S.A. was honoured with the “Golden Award for Quality” at the International Fair of Thessaloniki in 1937. Epsa’s glass bottle, a hallmark of the brand, was designed in 1940.
Numerous new products were been added to our classic product line of orangeade, lemonade, lemon soda, and soda water in recent years. These new products include iced tea drinks in several flavors; tonic water; a sour cherry drink; organic lemonade; and cola light, sweetened with stevia. The innovative “light drops”, a liquid sweetener from the stevia plant is a recent addition, and so is our pink lemonade.
TOUR AND TASTING
During your visit to the factory you will have the opportunity to learn about the history of Epsa S.A. and the imprint it has left on the history of carbonated drinks. In addition to the factory museum, a guided tour in the specially designed area above the production line is not to be missed. There, visitors learn step-by-step the process of preparing our authentic soft drinks, which are marketed in Greece and abroad.
