Description

The Boutaris winery in Crete is located on the outskirts of the village of Skalani on the Phantaxometoho estate. Located just 8 km from Heraklion city center and 4 km from the archaeological site of Knossos, it is the jewel of the Archanes viticultural zone.
The Phantaxometoho estate, known as “the priory of phantoms,” owes its name to the efforts of its previous owner to protect it from pirate raids by spreading rumors that ghosts haunt the estate.
The winery is open to the public and has a complete range of services for visitors.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

The program includes: the tour, the wine tasting, the cooking lesson and the meal.
Τhe tour includes a walk-through of the vineyards and the facilities of the winery. There is a large cellar where the wines mature, and a special showroom for a unique journey back in time to Cretan history. Mrs. Anastasaki, the spouse of our chief agriculturist, Nikos, is the restaurant’s cook and provides the Cretan traditional group cooking lessons.
The program ends with a meal and a wine tasting of three different wines.
