Creta Carob was established in 2006 in Rethymno, at the village of Argyroupoli on Crete island, and started operating in 2011. It is a family-run business focusing on the production of a variety of organic products derived from the pods of the carob tree. Carob has a long history in human nutrition.
The Greek philosopher Theophrastus recorded in 4 BC that his fellow Greeks called the carob ‘the Egyptian fig’.
