Citrus was founded in 2008 as a multifaceted business venture whose main area of activity is the production of artisanal sweets and other products through a processing unit based on the renowned citrus fruits of Chios, an island in the eastern Aegean.
Inspired by a history of systematic cultivation and commerce that dates back to the 14th century, Citrus aims at dynamically linking our model cottage industry to the past, present, and future of citrus production in the Kambos region. The fruit is used in high-quality products with significant nutritional properties aimed both at the Greek and international markets.
Their current use by Citrus in making new products, flavors, and aromas confirms that with alternative and qualitative ways it is possible to give modern man living aromas of the past from products produced in the heart of Kampos, Chios, in a unique mansion of 1742.
TOUR AND TASTING
The Citrus estate is also home to a museum dedicated to the area’s history and the prosperity it experienced thanks to its citrus farms. The citrus museum showcases the history of citrus farming on the island of Chios in a beautiful multi-purpose venue that hosts memorabilia and other archival material relating to the social evolution of Kambos, its citrus-growing tradition, cultivation methods, and commerce in the past and present, casting Kambos as the historical farming community and cultural heritage treasure that it is.
Tours are also organized so that visitors can learn about the fascinating past and exciting future of Kambos’s citrus tradition.
A tasting concludes the visit to the museum.
